PİLEVNELİ Mecidiyeköy, 12 Şubat - 24 Mart 2019 tarihleri arasında PİLEVNELİ Project tarafından gerçekleştirilen “KAĞIT” başlıklı sergiye ev sahipliği yapmaya hazırlanıyor.

PİLEVNELİ Mecidiyeköy’ün misafir programı kapsamında gerçekleştirilen ilk proje olarak izleyici karşısına çıkan “KAĞIT”, 100’ün üzerinde sanatçının kâğıt işlerine odaklanıyor. Sergi, Türkiye çağdaş sanatında, 1960’lardan bugüne uzanan bir çizgide, kâğıt üzerine yapılan işler ve de bizzat materyal olarak kağıdın kullanıldığı yapıtları bir araya getiriyor.

PİLEVNELİ Mecidiyeköy is preparing to host the exhibition titled “Paper” carried out by PİLEVNELİ Project from February 12th to March 24th, 2019.

The first project held within the scope of PİLEVNELİ Mecidiyeköy’s guest program, the exhibition titled “Paper” focuses on the artwork done on paper by over 100 artists. The exhibition brings together artwork on paper in Turkish contemporary art from the 1960s up until today, as well as works that use paper itself as a primary material.

  Lining Revealed – A Journey Through Folk Wisdom and Contemporary Vision From beadwork to embroidery, straw weaving to paper craft, patchwork quilts of nomadic tribes to silkscreen prints of agrarian island communities, handicraft techniques and everyday objects inherited through time immemorial have often been sources of inspiration and materials for contemporary artists. Both folk craft and contemporary art originate from humanity’s innate desires for creation, expression, exchange and identity, and are vessels for conveying emotion and reason. Lining Revealed examines the interactions between folk craft and contemporary art by juxtaposing artworks, handicrafts and archival documents. Through the critical lens and creative manifestations of contemporary art, it reveals the historical, social and cultural significance embodied in folk craft and the role craft plays in reinvigorating contemporary vision.
